Cool - but really not. That's gotta hurt.

Icy Roads in Portland

Apparently people in Portland, Oregon can't drive in the snow. This video is puzzling and quite frankly, ridiculous.

Padma Lakshmi Pie

Padma Lakshmi - supermodel, author and world-renowned foodie. Host of popular reality-tv show 'Top Chef' Padma makes my mouth water more often than the food. Bad news: She's married to the old fogie you see in the pictures - Salman (20+ years her senior) . . . dude!

Bubble 2.0 ???

I know it's cliché - everyone is talking about the 'Second' bubble here in the Valley. Well some of us are starting to question the kool-aid we've been drinking. Here is a list of reasons why I believe that the end is upon us . . . again:

(1) Web 2.0 businesses are receiving million (and billion) dollar valuations prior to generating a single-dollar in revenue.

(2) VCs and other angel investors are throwing millions at 'copy-cat' companies in hopes of striking it rich (reference all the money currently being invested in online video sites like Metacafe and Heavy.com - post YouTube's sale to Google)

(3) You can often overhear entrepreneurs and investors mumbling "1% of the market is millions" and billions . . . and trillions . . .

(4) Online advertising still has a lot of kinks. Results are inflated (in my opinion) and click fraud is still very much a factor.

(5) Many of the web's hottest new companies still give away their services for FREE, or worse, rely 100% on ad-supported business models.

(6) Google is diversifying outside of it's core business - online advertising (venturing into radio and print advertising). Does this say something about the current climate for online advertising - even though it's growing, maybe it's not quite what it's cracked up to be???

(7) Blogs; Everyone's writing them - very few people care.

(8) If you can't make a living writing and distributing your Blog or RSS Feed (two of Web 2.0's biggest creation), then why bother!!! Take it from Guy Kawasaki (former Apple evangelist - now Managing Partner for Garage Technology Ventures) - he made a little over $4,000 TOTAL in 2006 for his own highly-successful blog. Good luck! Uggghhhh.

Enjoy it while it lasts . . . Cheers

What does Larry Ellison drive?

This past Sunday - I caught a rare glimpse of the billionaire-magnate himself, Larry Ellison (CEO, Oracle) heading East down Woodside Rd. in his new 2007 Bentley GTC Convertible (silver/tan interior). He was humming along at 35mp, chatting on his celly-cell . . . before I lost him around Alameda De Las Pulgas. What a shame - I was going to invite him over for some Wii.

Sports Gambling: Playing it Safe

Dr. Bob - as he's known throughout the world of Sports Gambling, is one of the world's most influential sports handicappers. In a busines full of flaky, shady characters, this local San Franciscan has made a name for himself.

This article ran this morning in the Wall Street Journal. Apprently he's sooo good, major casinos subscribe to his newsletter's and have been known to 'alter' point spreads on games based on his picks (sometimes seconds after his newsletters go out). Wow! The interesting twist to this story is: Smart handicappers may soon discover that it can be just as lucrative to sell their picks as it is to bet them. Imagine making money gambling without ever gambling - it's ingenius! Great story. Kudos Dr. Bob!!!

The Last Dance with Saddam

Here is the complete video of Saddam Hussein dropping thru the floorboards. Shot with a camera phone, the video clarity is not of great quality. The Iragi government is currently looking into this video to determine if any of Saddam's civil rights were abused during the process - specifically taunting of the prisoner. Seems kinda trivial compared to some of the atrocities committed by him and his evil henchmen. In my opinion, he got off lucky. Thank god for him, the U.S. was behind this one. It probably would have been a lot messier if North Korea did the honors.

Here's a video of my friend Jarrod and I playing golf at Lincoln Park G.C. in San Francisco a few months back. I edited the video online at www.OneTrueMedia.com a cool new website that allows you to upload and edit videos for free online. You can even upload your own mp3's and add them to your video. When you're finished creating your masterpiece, you can generate code for posting to a website or blog, email a link to friends and family, or you can have it burned to a DVD disc and mailed to you. Whatever's clever.
